Merry Christmas
It once was believed
That nothing was faster than light
But scientists know now
There’s a particle that makes light look very slow
But scientists are many years late
For back when I was a boy –
That’s about seventy years ago
I knew back then of a particle so small
Like a glint in ones eye or the
Feeling of love in my mommas heart
Something so strong, something so fast
That it covered all earth in
One very short night
All to celebrate the birth of one little boy
But along with the joy
There’s a lesson to be learned
The joy is in giving, not receiving
So pass it along – what scientists have learned
A particle faster than light
Can travel around the world in only one night
And everywhere he goes – his message is clear
In honor of Christ – God has chosen
To give one and all – this night
To honor a boy that was a Savior of man
To fill each of us with good cheer
And to wish everyone a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.
